I designed this summer retreat as if it was a room for my own use.... a room that could be located in a Georgetown townhouse, or in a Delaware Beach house, or even in the Hamptons, Patmos, or Capri.

I like my personal space to be a mixture of periods with modern pieces, art deco touches, Louis XVI, and I like the to respect the architecture or create it. It must include books, interesting objects and lighting, bold art, tribal art, glass, ceramics, etc. But, I wanted the summer touch to be mostly highlighted in the rug selection, not by more cliché options.

I am fascinated by design history and reference, but I always look for my own personality or the client's to show.

Inspiration came from houses by designers Van Day Truex, David Hicks, and chic patrons like Marie-Laure de Noailles and Pauline de Rothschild.
