Straight from the catwalks of Milan, About Interiors presents Birds of a Feather… A lounge/game room experience where your senses come alive in a mix of classic contemporary furnishings and vintage originals. Upon entry, a cobalt blue wall wraps the room like a vibrant satin sash against clean, crisp white. A keen eye may glimpse playful white feathers, delicately painted on the floor beneath a lush shag area rug. Imagine drinks chilling to perfection atop the Oval Inlay Bar as you slip into a plush Barbara Barry original. At the end of a long workweek, all you need is this chair and the soothing sounds of Charlie Parker. Vintage tufted chairs and a mirrored game table set the stage for intense, but friendly games of chess, while the Bird’s Nest Chandelier floats overhead. In 2007, Dawn added sustainable furniture to her repertoire and is quickly becoming one of Washington’s best resources for beautiful and affordable eco-friendly furnishings. H. Dawn Patrick-Wout is an award-winning designer, entrepreneur and avid philanthropist. In 1996, Dawn founded Happy Places = Happy Faces (HP=HF), a non-profit charitable organization that is committed to revitalizing children’s spaces. In the summer of 2007, HP=HF garnered local media attention for its work on the Shepard’s Cove Homeless Shelter Revitalization Project. Giving back to the community has always been a priority for Dawn. She has dedicated her life and work to improving the lives of others. Before discovering her passion for interior design, Dawn received a Master’s degree in clinical psychology and served as Director of mental health programs in the United States and the US Virgin Islands. Since 1994, she has been integrating her varied skills to create spaces that speak to her clients’ interior design needs. With a vibrant personality and intuitive design skill, Dawn and her beautiful designs have been featured on HGTV, Spectacular Homes of Greater Washington DC, Essence Magazine, Home and Design Magazine and The Washington Post.
