As with all exceptional design, the primary objective is to always create relaxed, intimate spaces that are functional and inviting. I strive to create rooms that are personal and reflect the lifestyle and purpose of their inhabitants. I strongly feel that a dining room is the best possible place to create such a welcoming atmosphere in every home.

Symmetry and flow are ever-present in this open space, incorporating a nuanced, imaginative, layered texture creating a sense of timelessness. The skillful manipulation of elements, patina, form, proportion and hues all create a graceful, respectful space.

The dining room is swathed with gray/blue silk drapes, highlighting the warm tones of the English-inspired floral wall paper. The window treatments are double lined to create depth and warmth while highlighting the over-scaled plantation shutters, focusing your eyes to the windows and expanding the room’s dimensions. The custom garden table and antique Swedish chairs allows the room to show not only its beauty but encourages guests to linger over late-evening get togethers.

Stan Kelly Interiors

Stan Kelly Incorporated began in 1998 after years of dreaming his own name would one day be a venerable design firm. Schooled in the classics, restraint and appropriateness are hallmarks of Kelly's style. Objects, patterns, textures and colors, beautifully balanced, have an appealing undisciplined look — the direct result of great focus and meticulous planning. Mr. Kelly's highly developed sense of style has established him as one of Washington D.C.'s leading interior designers. Throughout his celebrated career, he has never lost sight of his primary objective as a designer: to create relaxed, intimate residential spaces that are so inviting, his clients never want to leave. "Rooms should never be boring, yet nothing should hit you over the head. I think rooms come alive when there is a spontaneous mix of different periods, raw materials and high quality design," says Mr. Kelly.
