Vibrant yet serene, tailored but romantic, classic with quiet elegance — a Jennie Curtis homescape.

As founder and designer principal of Material Differences, a design firm with 20 years of committed service to the greater Washington metropolitan area, Jennie Curtis demonstrates her passion for perfect hues and dynamic textiles in every project.

Curtis takes pride in her certification as an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers. Material Differences provides full spectrum, high-end interior design services dedicated to employing both cost and eco-friendly strategies. Aware that good design harmonizes with the architecture of a home, she has expanded her business beyond decoration to include renovation and design-to-build architect's consultations for both commercial and residential clients. Her spatial common sense optimizes the light and flow of the house structure and enhances all aspects of a construction project.

She combines fabulous design with a comfortable and highly personalized focus. She connects her client's lifestyle with a color palette that speaks to the heart of each space. She guides her clients through the interior design process with enthusiasm and sensitivity to achieve a truly material difference. Her love for all textiles enables her to create harmonious combinations of silks and velvets, linens and prints, geometrics and solids for exceptional window treatment and upholstery stories. Her transitional style fosters an eclectic and timeless mix of gracious comfort.

Curtis' love for art, architecture, antiques and all things beautiful was nourished by her many years of living and traveling in Europe. She is energized by her children, family and friends, food and entertaining, adventures both large and small, gardening, giving new life to old furniture and stories with happy endings! She and her lively family reside in their Potomac Falls, Va. home – her personal ongoing project.
