Overview
“Potomac fever”… the disease one catches after coming to D.C. and seeing all the things this great city has to celebrate – history, political power, eclectic neighborhoods, culture and art. The Fall 2009 Design House will truly celebrate Washington, D.C. In partnership with Southern Living Magazine, the Design Center will choose eight of the area’s top designers to decorate a room, each themed after a historic district. Eight D.C. historic districts will be represented in the house!
This Fall, we are thrilled to also partner with City Arts D.C. The mission of City Arts is to create and promote high quality community art that enriches and enlivens neighborhoods. City Arts accomplishes its mission by engaging residents in conceiving artworks that reflect neighborhood history and culture; teaching and mentoring talented student artists through paid apprenticeships; and offering community art appreciation and education programs for people of all ages.
City Arts students will create a fabulous mural that will be the entry to the Design House. It will feature all eight historic districts, as well as the Design Center – as the heart of D.C.! All proceeds from the Opening Party on September 24 will be donated to City Arts! Please visit www.cityartsdc.org.
