Parlor Room
Our concept for the interiors of these two rooms is based on actual homes in the Kalorama District of Washington, D.C. where formal architecture is prevalent. The larger room is designed as a parlor with the smaller anteroom as the vestibule.
Vestibule: Vestibules were either masonry or glass walled structures that visitors entered before entering the main house. This enclosure was intended to protect the house from the elements. The utilization of the birch tree wall covering is designed to imitate the wooded landscape as viewed through a glass enclosure and the room is furnished with exterior inspired furnishings. The glass floor underfoot reveals a whimsical koi pond.
Parlor: Formal architectural elements and furniture arrangements were typical of Kalorama interiors. Fine wall coverings and fabrics were employed and central and perimeter furniture groupings were the norm. With a younger, affluent clientele currently purchasing these homes, we have interspersed cutting-edge materials on traditional pieces that both welcome and delight the visitor.
