Capital Design Days

Hundreds of designers and tastemakers flocked to the WDC for Capital Design Days, April 12-14.  The WDC hosted 21 events over the three-day span that included guest lecturers, design celebrities, book signings and parties.

Magazine editor and lifestyle expert Eddie Ross delighted a standing-room only crowd with advice on styling rooms for photography. After a shopping trip around the WDC, he demonstrated how to transform a space to fit any season or occasion.

Internationally renowned designer David Easton discussed sustainable design and followed up with a luncheon and book signing of his Timeless Elegance. Adam Lewis, Author of Billy Baldwin: The Great American Decorator, gave us insight into the profound legacy of one of the 20th century’s greatest designers. Author and designer Cathy Whitlock, along with production designers Denny Dugally of ABC’s Brothers & Sisters and Kristi Zea, whose recent work includes Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, described the magic of interior design on film and how they make it happen.

Decorative carpet and rug expert Alix Perrachon, with DC’s own designer Mary Douglas Drysdale, discussed selecting the perfect floor covering for any space. And five designers from the DC Design House described how they designed their rooms in the elegant Forest Hills show house, including their selection of products from WDC showrooms.
