The Design Center
The Washington Design Center is home to more than 50 luxury showrooms, all in one fabulous location just three blocks south of the National Mall, at the foot of Capitol Hill.
Designers, architects, space planners, and consumers shop our showrooms on seven floors because they know the customization and quality available here is unequaled in the retail environment.
Why the WDC?
Because the 1,000-plus luxury brands available in our showrooms are simply the best. Those who understand that exquisite home furnishings are an investment that can be passed down through families, much like art or jewelry, come to our showrooms for top-of-the-line furniture and accessories, fabrics and wall coverings, and carpets.
How Does the WDC work?
The Washington Design Center is “to the trade.” That means interior designers, architects, stagers, and space planners are pre-authorized to purchase from the showrooms at “net” – or wholesale – prices. Consumers wishing to shop here are welcome to browse through our showrooms, and designers in our Entrée buying service are available every day for a free one-hour consultation, and to assist in purchasing at a designer discount price plus a markup fee for the Entrée representative’s services.
Why not shop retail?
It is hard to find anything at retail that matches the quality or craftsmanship available in our showrooms. Retail stores also have many limitations on the ways in which your furniture can be customized. In our showrooms, there is almost no limit on how you can order your furnishings, from finish to fabric to size dimensions. In addition, retail operations must build a lot in to the price of their products to pay for their sales staffs, storefront real estate, and advertising campaigns. That means precious little of the price you pay actually comes from the construction of the furniture. Here, because our to-the-trade showrooms aren’t burdened with most retail costs, the majority of a price comes from the fine work and detailing that goes into each product.
